sculpture, 2024

a stele that is not created through the sculptural working method, but through the addition and arrangement of similar parts.

principle

the starting point of this round stele is a hollow body with walls made of wafer-thin wood veneer. thanks to the special segment shape with rounded corners, the individual parts are very stable despite the minimal amount of material used. the multiplication of these elements set at a distance results in interesting insights, shadows and joints.

the stacking and slight upward rotation with elements of the same height creates a very calm object on the one hand, while on the other it also plays with the tension of the different rows and the desire for expansion. this sculpture is very calm and yet moving, a lightweight construction with an additive approach.
