the pursuit of simplicity, the beauty of craftsmanship and poetry in the details

gunther pfeffer is an artist and designer who focuses on fine craftsmanship, materiality and the aesthetics of simplicity. his roots lie in craftsmanship since carpentry is a tradition in his family. after over a decade honing his craft, he studied spatial object design in order to learn how to express his creativity. after graduating, he opened his own studio and worked on self-initiated projects as well as customer projects in the field of unique pieces, editions/series, interiors and holistic projects with artistic approach.

his deep roots in craftsmanship and years of practicing craft techniques lead to a very special approach to material, technique, formal design and an eye for the extraordinary. as artist he tends to work with the sculptor’s approach.

gunther pfeffer develops visions that combine seemingly contradictory characteristics such as poetry and reduction. simplicity, technical precision and a discreet but nonetheless forceful design language are the core themes of his work. in his work the creative idea, constructive concept, technological implementation and aesthetics become one.

gunther pfeffer condenses the iterative mental design process until a thoroughly convincing balance is achieved. neither technical sophistication nor the supposedly pleasing pushes to the fore. this leaves time to perceive the work itself in its pure beauty and enjoying the intellectual pleasure of exploring the ideas behind the surface.
